DAIFUKU SINCE 1934

The Early Years

Daifuku history begins when Mr. Eisuke Matsuhisa, the founder of Daifuku introduced the first machinery made Washi into Mino area in 1934. In the early years, Daifuku had to go through very difficult time but we made gradual growth as the advantages of machinery made Washi were recognized, particularly lower cost and stable quality compared to hand made Washi. Encouraged by the growth, Daifuku aggressively expanded the business and this aggressiveness brought a solid basis for our further growth. The base papers for Mimeograph and paper thread for Nishijin Kimono are some of our products in the early years.

Shifting to Special Paper Maker

From 1942 to 1949, Daifuku was appointed as a national paper currency plant by Japanese Ministry of Finance, National Printing Bureau. In 1949, announcement of discontinuity from its Bureau impacted Daifuku’s management seriously and this led Daifuku to take the helm toward a special paper maker. Development of electronic insulating paper using mica was our first success of special paper. Boosted by this success, Daifuku completely shifted from Washi maker to special paper maker who utilizes original uniqueness of Mino Washi. Since then, Daifuku has developed wide range of special paper products for medical, cosmetics, household, architecture, food and other industrial uses, and we are now one of recognized special paper companies in Japan.

For Our Further Growth

Utilizing Mino Washi’s sole originalities, we have successfully produced a number of unique products for many years. It is not exaggeration to say that both our employees and insatiable challenging spirit in Daifuku culture are the foundation of the success. So we foster our employees and the culture for our further growth and strengthen our position as a leading special paper maker by recognizing the needs and wishes of our customers and market trend.
